Nineteen

Today I celebrated my nineteenth birthday. Time is really flying!

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving!!

There are no pictures nor video of my Thanksgiving 2010 :( so sad... here is a not so detailed list of what I did today :)

9 o'clock I woke up, and sent out Happy Thanksgiving texts.
11 o'clock we were out the door and headed to Grandmas house!
12 o'clock we arrived at grandmas, my dad and I were starved so we ate a Costco roll. (It just isn't Thanksgiving without a Costco roll)
1 o'clock my cousins arrived and we played the "Family game" It is a pretty spectacular game.
2 o'clock my family left and headed to Wal-mart. I found what I wanted for Christmas a Beyblade, and a Justin Bieber teddy bear!
3 o'clock we left Wal-mart and headed to Clifton, VA.
4 o'clock we arrived at a cute little restaurant where we met with some more cousins and grandparents.
6 o'clock we drove home.
8 o'clock we watched PUNKIN CHUNKIN, and I made puddin' cause Josh and my dad desperately needed some
11:50 I decide to write a post
11:59 my comp froze for a minute, so my "Thanksgiving"was posted NOT on Thanksgiving...

Grrr it was November 25 exactly one minute ago...oh well :)

Romeo and...

Hello! I should be finishing up my English paper right now... :)

I don't know if many of you are aware of my fear of "Horseback Riding".  Now I love horses, I think they are adorable, but I prefer not to ride on their backs. I was not always frightened by these majestic creatures.  It was the summer of 2004, Deep Creek Lake MD. My family was on vacation, so we all decided to go horseback riding. (my first time) I was given a horse by the name of 'Ginger' She was gray with black spots.  The ride was going great, I was just getting comfortable when Ginger thought it would be so fun to lift her front legs and do a black beauty pose!....OK so maybe not that extreme...We continued down the trail till we reached a point where a decision was to be made, go right or go straight. Everyone went right, even Ginger, until she saw my cousins horse go straight. And straight we went. We could not get the horses to stop and turn around! Eventually they turned around and met up with the rest of the group. So at that point horseback riding was no more! Until....

This is what Romeo looked like :D
My little cousin Abby just had a Birthday. So her older sister Brie wanted to take her horseback riding. I got the invite over text, and my response was, Sure I'll go. So I met them at their house and we were on our way. I was shaking the WHOLE ride up. When we arrived the massive creatures were roaming the fields. After waiting for the clock to strike 12pm it was time to begin the journey.  My back was turned from the horses due to my fear. My heart jumped when I heard the words "Girl in the green hoodie..." yep that was me. I walked over to the legit cowboy standing with the white horse. I'm sure I looked like a 5 year with fear in my eyes. Then I was introduced to the horse. "This here is Romeo." said the legit cowboy. I thought to myself "how could a horse named Romeo be evil." The ride ended up being a blast, my horse was a sweetheart and nothing traumatizing happened. THE END :) Oh and I crossed a river on horseback, one more check of my bucket-list ;)

Be thankful for November

November is my all time favorite month. Everything about this month is perfect: cold weather, my birthday, warm toasty fires, my birthday, the sweet fall air, beautiful dying leaves, and thinking it's gonna snow when you know it will most defiantly not. But the highlight of all my Novembers is Thanksgiving. I absolutely love Thanksgiving, but I can NOT stand, when stores skip Thanksgiving and move right on to Christmas. Excuse me? Thats rude! I don't want to see Christmas trees, I want to see families gathered around a big table, and turkeys, not snowmen, and jingle bells!...Now there are two rules that I follow when it comes to Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Rule #1. I will not listen to christmas music until Thanksgiving day.
Rule #2. Nightmare Before Christmas must be watched Thanksgiving night.
I faithfully follow these rules every year, so it's annoying when I walk into a store and hear "Here come Santa Claus, Here comes Santa Claus LA LA LA..." playing over the speakers! Phew...
OK I'm done.

The worst week of my life

On Wednesday, October 27th, 2010, I got in my very first car accident. I wish to never experience that again. No one was injured (thankfully) and the only damage was the top right corner, headlight area. I praise God it wasn't worse then what happened. Besides the fact of being treated like a ten year by the other driver, I am thankful she was nice and didn't "flip out" (too much). Thank God I had my best friend Emily in the car with me :)

Friday, October 29th, 2010, Myself and many others are mourning over the death of a dear co-worker, friend, brother, and son, Joe Ruggiero.  It's hard to think straight right now, so it is difficult to type what I want say, clearly.
Memories:
I met Joe on a film set back in September. He worked with the Props department. First impression- He was the definition of "Cool" haha. While on set I attended my first dance and Joe was the first person to ever ask me to dance, I won't forget that! I remember him always in a good mood on set, and he was so nice and caring:)
God is our comforter and He will never leave our side. Joe was an amazing guy and will be terribly missed. Please keep his family and friends in your prayers.
I truly hope our few weeks of witnessing had an effect. It's all that matters in the end... -I hope so to Andrew...

Way Back When

With the windows down and Shania Twain blasting out the stereo...

Remember when you were younger and you knew a song word for word, and you would run around the house singing it at the top of your little lungs? (If not, you have been deprived)  Now fifteen years later, same song, and you only remember every other word, yet you still insist on singing at the top of your lungs.  Oh how I love moments like these.  I recently listened to one of Shania Twain's CDs.  Now me and Shania go way back, Any Man of Mine was my favorite song when I was little.  I remember memorizing what I thought were the words and belting them out for all the world to hear.

Welcome to the office

Today I started my first office job.  I have about one hour left.  I used to dream of having my own desk over looking the city, with a family picture in the corner and a big coffee cup that is never empty, and little conversations at the water cooler....No Thank You Sir.  As you can see I'm super busy, which is why I'm typing a piontless post instead of doing work.  Well back to "work".

A Hike

I went on a hike today, the weather was perfect, and the scenery was beautiful.  Thats really all I have to say....hah yeah right!

There was a planned hike that was supposed to take place at 10am this morning. I woke up at 10:30 by mistake, I was freaking out, running around the room grabbing clothes and shoes, while brushing my teeth at the same time.  I jumped in the car with Hannah and we sped up to the meeting place...PSH! they were so not even close to being ready to go.  Once the crew had their directions we were off.  My small group had an interesting ride up (or down, or sideways I really don't know) Anyway we made two wrong turns, and when we finally got on the right track, I looked at the dashboard and my fuel tank was on EMPTY.  After all that mess we finally arrived to the trail.  It was a beautiful hike, all downhill on the way to the falls (all uphill on the way back)  As far as anything eventful happening, About half the group climbed the mountainside to reach the top of the waterfall (I went half way then doubted my ability to climb up a mountain without plummeting to the bottom)  One brave soul decided to actually climb the waterfall.  She was soaked.  I found a flipping amazing caterpillar! He later died the tragic death of being flung off a sword...  Oh and the best part about this hike was that everything was super slick, so yes slipping and falling was not a rare sight.  There were like a bazillion steps on the trail?! Stairs are for houses not mountains!  When we finished the hike half of us (including me) went to Ruby Tuesdays aka The Arctic.  When we got back to the hotel, I jumped in the shower then walked to the Quality for a Movie (Zorro) So it was a pretty great day :D

P.s I work in the office tomorrow so we will see how that goes.....

Happy Birthday Hannah!

September, 21, 2010 The 20th birthday of Hannah Gaut.  Sometime in the middle of the day she decided that having a party would really fun. So, we told a few people hoping it would get around with word of mouth.  It did.  I am the type of person who likes to plan things like 'parties' a week in advance.  This was so not a week in advance!  After work we went and bought a cake and some tea, thinking only 10 people were going to be there.  Ended up being 30!  It was alot of fun, I don't think I have ever seen a group of young adults so amused with balloons?  And of course we did some Old English dancing, and an upbeat country dance :) But just for Hannah we did....the BROOM DANCE.... or as I like to call it...the REJECTION DANCE...yeah much better fit.  I think it's safe to say that everyone had a really great time!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY :)

Dance, Dance

Last night I attended my first ever DANCE.  One of the interns, Stacy, knew the host family, so she called and said "Hey I have 25 friends can they come to your dance?" haha.  It was a sight when we all arrived at the same time, kinda felt like party crashers. Pretty Great
When I was growing up (psh like I'm grown up) I never had dances, my school did not approve.  Instead we had banquets where everyone had there own little personal space. I don't have the exact rule, but there was a six inch rule when I was in high school. If this rule happened to be broken, you're in trouble!
We danced the Virginia Reel, Spanish Waltz, and I cant remember the names of the others.  I am proud to say I successfully (successful in my head) danced every dance.  The last dance of the night consist of spinning, twirling, and dizziness, you were always moving! Oh yeah and it was twenty-two minutes long. 0_0  You can imagine we were all pretty worn out by the time we got back to the hotel...

Good-Bye Giant

I am no longer a Giant employee.

  • My first day at Giant was October 9th.
  • On my Second day at giant I witnessed something that I will never be able to forget.  An elderly women was loading her items on the belt when she gripped the edge of the register and began whispering to me...I thought she was possessed.  Then out of nowhere she falls flat on her back and pulls the cart down with her.  Her breathing was very heaving and her eyes were moving back and forth really fast.  Then she just stopped.  An ambulance came and took her out on stretcher, and I am happy to say that she is alive and well :)
There are four types of customers at Giant, The Perfects, The Impatient Ones, The Crazies, and The "Clever Ones"

  • A nice simple conversation, a smile, a compliment,  a thank you, these are all qualities of The Perfects. I love these customers :)
  • Impatient people are a wee bit annoying, they roll their eyes, tap their fingers vigorously, glare at the cashier and/or bagger,  or my favorite-  mumble....No One Knows What You're Saying!!! so keep it in your head please.
  • The Crazies are the people who know just how to drive me up the wall!  A few examples are: When they line every single item in a single fill line on the left side of the belt, oh and when they buy a bunch of stuff and then go "oops I don't want them anymore" What?! Then why did you put it in your cart??  My favorite is after I finish bagging they go ''Oh oops I had bags here you go'' Why!...  (p.s I dislike this whole bring your own bag thing)
  • People think they are so clever. I just love it when a customer buys something and then say "Oh no that is the wrong price" so I take them to the price tag and show them it's the right price. Then they try to convince me that I'm wrong...I'm not BLIND! or they try to do these weird separate transactions thinking they get a better price. What?! how is that making your purchase any cheaper??
While working at Giant I learned some important facts such as:
  • Never squeeze a bag of flour to hard
  • Always make up a fake injury when asked to go outside and push carts
  • Do not ever bag a child's toy with out their knowledge
  • Circus Peanuts keep you young
A few things to note before you go grocery shopping

  • Don't forget your wallet
  • Please take your child out the cart when checking out, unless you want him/her smooshed under groceries
  • Wash your "green" bags. Please!
  • And always thank the Bagger ;) haha
