Lisa Frank

The most inspirational paragraph I have feasted my eyes upon.
"Lisa Frank is not the name of a woman, it is the name of a movement, a culture, a way of living. It is a theory, a concept, a belief in something greater than yourself. It is the belief that all girls are entitled to dolphins covered with rainbows, jewel-encrusted frogs, and unicorns in acid-trip colors hugging each other. It is the ideology that no notebook is complete until it literally hurts your eyes to look at from so much color saturation. It is the hope that no school supply, no matter how insignificant, will be left un-bedazzled. It is the knowledge that your eraser cap, and that of your granddaughter’s, and her granddaughter’s after her, will not be some boring little nub–it will be a diamond covered with butterflies in a rainbow of colors. It is the dream of a better tomorrow."

20 years of living.

November 26, 2011
I'm 20!! Can you believe it? It feels like just yesterday I was a 16 years old dreaming of the day I could drive my own car, all by my lonesome. Now as I am 20 I wish that people would drive me around so I wouldn't have to spend money on this dag-on expensive gas!? This upcoming year of my life is going to spectacular, I can feel it in muh bones...

Evil Steam.

I'm never boiling water again!!! Never!!
You can give me wood, matches, and a field and I won't get burned. You give me noodles, a pot, and boiling water and you would think I was trying to boil my hand off. Steam is the devil of all water elements. As I type this my thumb is throbbing in excruciating pain. From this day on I will NEVER make noodles without the right protective gear aka supervision.

Bucket List #2

To spend one (or more) year(s) of my life traveling the world.
Documenting it as I go.
Taking more pictures then my camera can contain.
Meeting thousands of new people.
Making memories.
Trying new things.
Longboarding in Spain. (When I learn).
Collecting a million tourist stickers.
Exploring the world God created to it's fullest.
All I need is: a travel partner, time, camera, luggage, money, and a map :)

At 11:11pm I will, for the first time ever (upon this hour)make a wish. I see it as an event where I will wish for whatever earthly material thing I want! Oh the decisions that need to be made with in this next hour...

The Alarm Clock.

beep, beep, beep

Is there anyone out there who just anticipates the ringing, dinging, or beeping of their morning alarm clock?
I am most certainly not one of those people. Don't get me wrong I love the morning. It's what goes on before my morning starts I can't tolerate. In many of my cases my alarm clock is considered the "ruiner of all awesome dreams." Why, you may ask? Allow me to tell you. I have never reached the climax point of any of my action filled dreams due to my alarm clock. It's as if it knows the exact point in my dream at which it would be most impactful to ruin!? In most cases I frantically hit snooze in hopes of completing my dream within the next five minutes, but I can never seem to re-open the dream no matter how hard I try. It is tragic really. Every morning I am getting awoken by this screaming inconsiderate machine whose life purpose is to interrupt my slumber. Although I see many annoying aspects to the alarm clock they were obviously designed for a practical purpose: waking you up so you wont be late for life-stuff. But that is not really a good enough pro for me to begin to love my alarm clock. So I took it upon myself to design a new way of looking at the alarm clock to make it seem more enjoyable.
This method may not work for everybody, but if your like me it will work!
It's simple really. Just pretend the alarm clock is a bomb. A bomb that if detonated will destroy the entire world, and the only one who qualifies to disarm the bomb is you. So basically you save the planet every morning. You have been given such a great responsibility and I for one would not want to let the world explode because I was sleepy.

And that is my solution for the dreadful alarm clock.

iPod+iTunes+NewUpdateThatMessedEverythingUp= My night

I had my mind set on going to bed early tonight...Nope!
I bought some new tunes for the ole' iPod and thought I should sync them. First of all my iPod has already been slow and acting weird due to this new iOS5 update. So halfway through the sync it cancels...then half my songs were light gray instead of black. (Black-Playable. Gray- Not playable) What gives Apple!? So then I restore my iPod. The past 25 minutes went like this.

7 mins remaining.
7 mins later...5 mins remaining
5 mins later...6 mins remaining
6 mins later...2 mins remaining
*joy*
2 mins later...5 mins remaining
*WHAT THE CRAP!?*
2 mins later...Restore finished.
Now updating.
Present...Still waiting, I guess I will write a post.
And the whole time this is going on I can't even watch Vimeo because I left my playlist playing and am unable to pause/stop/mute it will it is restoring/re-updating... It's Christmas music.

Goodnight.

Little miss spider.

This was the expression I had on my face.
I'm driving home from work and I thought since the weather was so awesome I would roll my windows down. As I'm driving I feel what, I thought was, my hair whipping my face due to the wind. I go to swipe my wind blown hair away from my face and what I swiped was actually a spider frolicking on my face. Oh no this is not ok. #TheMostFrighteningEventInMyLife

I had a dream.

Reasons that being a Christian is awesome #2047- You have the most epic dreams.

Im sitting in my favorite chair on a cool crisp morning with my Bible and cup of piping hot tea. I begin to read the story of Lazarus. (For those who aren't familiar his story, he was as dead as a rock and Jesus came and brought him back to life!) I got as far as when Jesus commanded lazarus to get up and come out of the tomb and then *Bam* There I am standing in a big tomb with a man who just rose from the dead. He had cloth wrapped all around him like mummy and I remember it not smelling to great. After helping Lazarus up from the ground I guided him to the entrance of the tomb to the joyful cheering crowd awaiting his appearance. I was basking in the moment when I noticed that Lazarus was trying to free himself from the cloth around his body and was failing at the attempt. So I quickly searched for and eventually found a knife thinking I could cut him out. Trying my hardest I just couldn't free Lazarus from the cloth that had imprisoned him. The crowd began to yell at me saying I ruined the bible story, and I messed everything up. My response to the hateful remarks was a bucket full of tears and a sense of failure. Then I woke up.

Lets RUUUUUUMBLE!!!

O_O "I feel the earth.move under my feet..."
In these past two days Virginians all over experienced the rumble of earthquakes. Confused? So was I, don't worry. Here are the facts.

  1. Started under Mineral VA
  2. 5.9 Magnitude
  3. Everyone in their cars thought we were having some kind of "car breakdown" apocalypse.
  4. Many thought train tracks had secretly been installed in their backyards.
  5. Lawn furniture was dropping like flies. Tragic.
  6. WAL-MART CLOSED!
  7. Facebook newsfeed became a source with live Earthquake updates.

Now, this wasn't a Japanese or California quake, but for a state that doesn't get too many natural disasters, let alone an Earthquake, it was a BIG deal. And it was scary.

School Swag.

Game Face
Put on my game face and marched, yet again, into the halls of Community College. Today I met a crack head, a man who is not ashamed to burp aloud, three familiar faces, more unfamiliar faces, a young man who enjoys rainstorms, and a girl who gets confused easily. Dang straight I'm going to have superhuman stories to tell about this class.
One down, three more to attend.
Lets see how this week pans out.
..3..2..1 ACTION!

Shark Week...

This time last year I was enduring the frightening sleepless nights at the beach caused by Shark Week playing on the television.
Galeophobia- Fear of Sharks.

I was always frightened by these monstrous evil creatures, but I never thought I had a legit phobia till this morning when I tried to engage in the Shark Week phenomenon that has swept America...
So there I was, sitting on my couch watching shark attack after shark attack. I was feeling kinda dizzy and light headed. I ignored the strange behavior and continued watching the near death experiences. As I watched I learned that two "myths" that I held onto so dearly were "not necessarily true!?" Apparently sharks will hunt a little after feeding time (fatties), and sometimes they don't even care if there are dolphins, the will eat you anyway!? (In my mind dolphins are the Power Rangers of the sea) Then I began shaking. This is not normal, I could feel the blood leaving my head. I began to picture what I would do if a great white human hunting shark had leaped from the depths of the ocean and lunged my  helpless body into the sky with its jagged shark teeth. I could take no more, I was scaring the crap out of myself! I was scared, like "when it's late and you turn off the lights and shine a flashlight at your face while making extremely scary faces in the mirror" scared. I immediately turned the television off, and I sat on my couch thinking to myself, "next week my family, my friends, and I are going to be splashing around in a sharks front yard like it's the ball pit at chuck-e-cheese, with out a worrisome thought in our minds. I feel that if anything touches my leg, arm, foot etc... in the ocean I would instantly die of fear. Either that or I would turn into Chuck Norris and beat the crap out of every living shark that comes in contact with me.

Fredrick:

Fredrick:
You mean you don't know?

Columbus:
Yes, that is correct, I do not know so tell me what it means please.

Fredrick:
Uh It means that...well

Columbus:
What. Does. It. Mean. Fredrick!

Fredrick:
Never mind.

Finding your perfect book.

I have a two simple rules I follow when it comes to picking out the perfect book.

  • If there is a movie I will save myself weeks of reading and just watch the story pan out in under three hours.
  • If I pick up a book and my fingers begin to ache after five minutes of reading it because it weighs ten pounds, I will simply place it back on the shelf.

Summer Class.

"...I'm gonna just cross my arms and lean on the wall cause I'm so cool"
HELLO THERE
Today was my first class of my summer semester. It's a religion class so it was only appropriate we share our faith. I must say it has quite a variety of students. A handful of Christians, and few Catholics, one Muslim, a few who don't know what they are, and 2 Agnostics. Going to be an interesting semester.
 Thats it.

Certainly.

I like the sense of certainty. Being so sure of something, with no doubtful thoughts whatsoever.
The "If-y" feeling in life drives me crazy!

I know...
My name is Morgan Rae Burke.
I will always attempt to burn a toaster strudel and reward myself with a packet of frosting.
My fascination for Europe and british accents will never fade.
Looking out windows will always be a pastime of mine, along with sleeping in the car.

Now I know there is no real certainty in the future, but feeling certain about these things, as odd as they may be, are comforting.

Thoughts...

What if...
I was born in Europe...would I act different, or look different? What would I be doing, would I be in university or would I have a job? What job/career would I be pursuing? Would I be in a relationship or married? Would God be number one in my life? Would I enjoy doing the same things I enjoy doing here in America? Would I think to myself "What if I was born in America?"

I wasn't born...would the world be different? Would my friends and family be the same? Would my high school change at all? Have I made some sort of impact in someones life that would no longer be if I didn't exist?

I was blind...would I live my life more, or hide away and mope? Would I have the same friends? Would I pursue the same things I'm pursuing now? How would I picture the earth, or the stars in the sky? Would I no longer have a fascination with cameras, and films? How would I feel about never seeing my parents, husband, or children? Would I even get married? Would I still live my life for God or run away from him in anger?

I was deaf...would I have a love for music like I do now? Would playing an instrument become an unreachable dream of mine? How would I feel about never being able to hear the words "I love you" or hear my name being called? Would music no longer be apart of my life? What would I do instead? Would I read more? Would I be closer to God?

I lived my life 100% for God...would I be living like I am today?

Survey of Criminal Justice.

I am taking a Criminal Justice class this semester.  I thought it would fun and cool. My classmates are really serious about this crime stuff. They know all the jargon, and terms, and laws…I don’t. I just found out that a misdemeanor, is not a nickname (Mister Meaner). Yeah…. We were shown a video of a real murder case, complete with a man who had been shot, a murderer, suspects, detectives, police men, a dog with a keen sense of smell, and a sweet old lady who dissected the man that was murdered. This is legit stuff right here. It was like a real life CSI episode, in my hometown. Awesome… I definitely sleep better knowing what is really going down in my town. There are a total of six people in this class, including myself. So it can get little awkward. For example: A woman in the class made a comment about her mother in law, and the man seated behind me said, out of nowhere, “ My mother in-law has passed away. So she is gone now.” I turn around in disbelief…*Silence*

I am always mixing up my class schedule. Lets say a class starts at 2:30, I’ll get there at 1:50 thinking class begins at 2:00. The best part is that when the realization hits me, I’m in the school walking to said class. So I unknowingly showed up to this criminal justice class 30 minutes early. But unlike my other mistakes I didn’t realize this until I was in my seat, with my pen in my hand. Now I know your thinking “why didn’t I see the unfamiliar faces?”, well there is another “criminal justice” like class right before mine, and my five classmates are in that class as well. So I saw familiar faces and made myself at home. I was sitting next to this girl I had never seen before thinking “Why is she here and why does she have the wrong book?” She was most likely thinking the same thing. I noticed that the man teaching the class was not my professor and at that moment it hit me. I was in the class before mine. Class ended and everyone was walking out of the room. I looked around and saw five of my classmates sitting behind me. Great. I had to sit there for 15 minutes in awkward silence knowing these five people knew that I just intruded the class before ours. Lesson is ‘always double check your class schedule.’

The Hallway of Awkward.

Hey there, I hope all is well. Have you done anything radically awesome lately? I have been reading a book about radically awesome things, the name of said book is, RADICAL by David Platt. I am in the process of getting my mind completely blown away by the words in this book. Yes it is that awesome!
For the past two weeks now I spend my days, and some nights, in Community College. I mean it isn't as terrible as I built it up to be, but it for sure isn't a big package of joy wrapped in ribbons with a scent of happiness either. There are a variety of humans who attend these Community Colleges. The most intriguing to me are the ones who walk the hallways. Now I like putting things into categories, so I am going to sort these college students into four categories.

    1. Face down to the ground type.

Now these people are the type that would run into a wall, or walk off the Grand Canyon (becoming a YouTube sensation) or collide head on into me. These are the ones who walk into the wrong classroom but have no idea because they don't lift their eyes to the things above the ground till they are seated. *Student takes out bio 101 book, *Other students stare in disbelief, *Teacher says "Today we are going to review for your Math 151 final." *Whaa?? Yeah Whoops! Tip for all of you who stare downward, Stop it.

    2. Texting in the dag-on hallway type.

These folks are very similar to the the first group of students. Only difference is that they are more annoying. They to have the chance of walking into the wrong classroom, except they often find out before they sit down and immediately after realizing their mistake they tweet/text/FBstatus about it so everyone will know for a fact that they walked into the wrong class. (Not gonna lie, but I would tweet it too) Also due to the fact that their eyes are not focused on the path ahead, everyone in their way gets trampled upon. *Girls tramples you, *You stare at her for a minute then the girl shows you her phone, *It's a text saying- OMG I AM SO SORRY!! *... Tip: Stand still while you text please, cause I really don't want to play 'Dodge the Texting Idiot in the Hallway' before every single class.

    3. The (faux) couples....

I would place myself in this category. As you all know there are many people walking the halls of colleges, going to class and leaving from class. Some of the most awkward moments happen in these hallways. Let me set the stage for you. You just opened the doors to the college and are now entering. Suddenly you notice a slow moving man up ahead. So you slow your pace in hopes of avoiding the awkward side-by-side walk with a stranger. Then you realize this guy is a walking snail, so you speed your steps and attempt to pass him. Just as you speed past, he picks up his pace. And now you are walking side-by-side with someone who you don't really care to walk side-by-side with. Awesome.

    4. Rabbits and the Turtles.

All right, now seriously why do College Student insist on power walking to class. This is not a gym people! OK, you're walking down the hallway minding your own business, then out of no where comes this girl practically running through the hallway to get to class! You tried to move out of her way but her high speeds were just too fast and BAM!  You both are on the ground moaning. But before you could even get up, she shoots up like a rocket and bolts into class. Now you are left there on the floor while people walk by and take pictures and point. Then the Turtle walkers. These guys get to school like an hour early, and they spend that hour meandering in the hallways. Is that their me time? Can they go sit under a tree or something instead of hobbling around in the hallway? Let's say after you just got pummeled by the marathon runner you are now five minutes late to your class. Quickly you jump up and begin to walk to class (at normal speeds, cause you are not a speed walker!) As soon as the door to your class in sight...*brakes screech* You are now behind a turtle walker, but not just one, oh no never just one, it's a whole group of them. Every once in a while they will stop and chat. They are like a group of Eeyores that invaded the school!

There are billions more 'categories' but then no one would read it, and my fingers my start to bleed. ew.

Satan has a little minion..

...and it lives with me. Yes my cat (Oreo) was once the cat from Hell. One day she decided to be born, and became my cat. Most evil cat that will ever walk the face of the earth. Oreo and I have a love/hate relationship, I give her food, shelter, water, tender love and care, and in return she bites me and pees on every item I own! She has fooled many of my friends and family members into thinking she is a sweet innocent little angel. My parents claim that I treated her like a toy cat instead of a living creature. Oreo obviously hypnotized them. When I was younger I would always have some sort of scratch on me. By the looks of my arms one would think I ran through thorn bushes for fun. So we got her de-clawed. Oreo is an inside demon cat and has no practical use for her front claws beside attempting to kill me. They had to go. Her teeth are still being used for evil deeds to this day. This year Oreo turn 16. For the past 16 years I have endured much pain from this tiny she-devil. She may look cute and oh so fluffy, but don't be fooled...

Yay! Blogger is being a jerk-face and not letting me type out a post...grr

My Oh My.

(1-1-11) <-- I think that's really cool, does anyone else think this is awesome!? ;)
Hello there, long time since I've had a written post. My fingers were starting to get a little rusty. Today is January 1 2011. I didn't have a very memorable January first, but I had a pretty spectacular 2010! I would have to write a five-hundred page book to describe all that has happened to me in the year of 2010. So I am going share with you my top five, in order from January through December.
  1. I filmed An American Elegy. The effect that short film had on my life was incredible.
  2. I became a high school graduate, also becoming a college freshman...
  3. I started this blog, Sunny Facts.
  4. I became a film intern for Advent Film Group. Worked on my first film set.
  5. I made/completed my first YouTube v-log.
Each of these events have had a major impact in my life. I am excited to see what God has in store for 2011!

Oh my I almost forgot, 2010 was the year I caught... Bieber Fever O_O

Nineteen

Today I celebrated my nineteenth birthday. Time is really flying!

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving!!

There are no pictures nor video of my Thanksgiving 2010 :( so sad... here is a not so detailed list of what I did today :)

9 o'clock I woke up, and sent out Happy Thanksgiving texts.
11 o'clock we were out the door and headed to Grandmas house!
12 o'clock we arrived at grandmas, my dad and I were starved so we ate a Costco roll. (It just isn't Thanksgiving without a Costco roll)
1 o'clock my cousins arrived and we played the "Family game" It is a pretty spectacular game.
2 o'clock my family left and headed to Wal-mart. I found what I wanted for Christmas a Beyblade, and a Justin Bieber teddy bear!
3 o'clock we left Wal-mart and headed to Clifton, VA.
4 o'clock we arrived at a cute little restaurant where we met with some more cousins and grandparents.
6 o'clock we drove home.
8 o'clock we watched PUNKIN CHUNKIN, and I made puddin' cause Josh and my dad desperately needed some
11:50 I decide to write a post
11:59 my comp froze for a minute, so my "Thanksgiving"was posted NOT on Thanksgiving...

Grrr it was November 25 exactly one minute ago...oh well :)

Romeo and...

Hello! I should be finishing up my English paper right now... :)

I don't know if many of you are aware of my fear of "Horseback Riding".  Now I love horses, I think they are adorable, but I prefer not to ride on their backs. I was not always frightened by these majestic creatures.  It was the summer of 2004, Deep Creek Lake MD. My family was on vacation, so we all decided to go horseback riding. (my first time) I was given a horse by the name of 'Ginger' She was gray with black spots.  The ride was going great, I was just getting comfortable when Ginger thought it would be so fun to lift her front legs and do a black beauty pose!....OK so maybe not that extreme...We continued down the trail till we reached a point where a decision was to be made, go right or go straight. Everyone went right, even Ginger, until she saw my cousins horse go straight. And straight we went. We could not get the horses to stop and turn around! Eventually they turned around and met up with the rest of the group. So at that point horseback riding was no more! Until....

     Sunday October 7th 2010
This is what Romeo looked like :D
My little cousin Abby just had a Birthday. So her older sister Brie wanted to take her horseback riding. I got the invite over text, and my response was, Sure I'll go. So I met them at their house and we were on our way. I was shaking the WHOLE ride up. When we arrived the massive creatures were roaming the fields. After waiting for the clock to strike 12pm it was time to begin the journey.  My back was turned from the horses due to my fear. My heart jumped when I heard the words "Girl in the green hoodie..." yep that was me. I walked over to the legit cowboy standing with the white horse. I'm sure I looked like a 5 year with fear in my eyes. Then I was introduced to the horse. "This here is Romeo." said the legit cowboy. I thought to myself "how could a horse named Romeo be evil." The ride ended up being a blast, my horse was a sweetheart and nothing traumatizing happened. THE END :) Oh and I crossed a river on horseback, one more check of my bucket-list ;)

Be thankful for November

November is my all time favorite month. Everything about this month is perfect: cold weather, my birthday, warm toasty fires, my birthday, the sweet fall air, beautiful dying leaves, and thinking it's gonna snow when you know it will most defiantly not. But the highlight of all my Novembers is Thanksgiving. I absolutely love Thanksgiving, but I can NOT stand, when stores skip Thanksgiving and move right on to Christmas. Excuse me? Thats rude! I don't want to see Christmas trees, I want to see families gathered around a big table, and turkeys, not snowmen, and jingle bells!...Now there are two rules that I follow when it comes to Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Rule #1. I will not listen to christmas music until Thanksgiving day.
Rule #2. Nightmare Before Christmas must be watched Thanksgiving night.
I faithfully follow these rules every year, so it's annoying when I walk into a store and hear "Here come Santa Claus, Here comes Santa Claus LA LA LA..." playing over the speakers! Phew...
OK I'm done.

The worst week of my life

On Wednesday, October 27th, 2010, I got in my very first car accident. I wish to never experience that again. No one was injured (thankfully) and the only damage was the top right corner, headlight area. I praise God it wasn't worse then what happened. Besides the fact of being treated like a ten year by the other driver, I am thankful she was nice and didn't "flip out" (too much). Thank God I had my best friend Emily in the car with me :)

Friday, October 29th, 2010, Myself and many others are mourning over the death of a dear co-worker, friend, brother, and son, Joe Ruggiero.  It's hard to think straight right now, so it is difficult to type what I want say, clearly.
Memories:
I met Joe on a film set back in September. He worked with the Props department. First impression- He was the definition of "Cool" haha. While on set I attended my first dance and Joe was the first person to ever ask me to dance, I won't forget that! I remember him always in a good mood on set, and he was so nice and caring:)
God is our comforter and He will never leave our side. Joe was an amazing guy and will be terribly missed. Please keep his family and friends in your prayers.
I truly hope our few weeks of witnessing had an effect. It's all that matters in the end... -I hope so to Andrew...

Way Back When

With the windows down and Shania Twain blasting out the stereo...

Remember when you were younger and you knew a song word for word, and you would run around the house singing it at the top of your little lungs? (If not, you have been deprived)  Now fifteen years later, same song, and you only remember every other word, yet you still insist on singing at the top of your lungs.  Oh how I love moments like these.  I recently listened to one of Shania Twain's CDs.  Now me and Shania go way back, Any Man of Mine was my favorite song when I was little.  I remember memorizing what I thought were the words and belting them out for all the world to hear.

Welcome to the office

Today I started my first office job.  I have about one hour left.  I used to dream of having my own desk over looking the city, with a family picture in the corner and a big coffee cup that is never empty, and little conversations at the water cooler....No Thank You Sir.  As you can see I'm super busy, which is why I'm typing a piontless post instead of doing work.  Well back to "work".

A Hike

I went on a hike today, the weather was perfect, and the scenery was beautiful.  Thats really all I have to say....hah yeah right!

There was a planned hike that was supposed to take place at 10am this morning. I woke up at 10:30 by mistake, I was freaking out, running around the room grabbing clothes and shoes, while brushing my teeth at the same time.  I jumped in the car with Hannah and we sped up to the meeting place...PSH! they were so not even close to being ready to go.  Once the crew had their directions we were off.  My small group had an interesting ride up (or down, or sideways I really don't know) Anyway we made two wrong turns, and when we finally got on the right track, I looked at the dashboard and my fuel tank was on EMPTY.  After all that mess we finally arrived to the trail.  It was a beautiful hike, all downhill on the way to the falls (all uphill on the way back)  As far as anything eventful happening, About half the group climbed the mountainside to reach the top of the waterfall (I went half way then doubted my ability to climb up a mountain without plummeting to the bottom)  One brave soul decided to actually climb the waterfall.  She was soaked.  I found a flipping amazing caterpillar! He later died the tragic death of being flung off a sword...  Oh and the best part about this hike was that everything was super slick, so yes slipping and falling was not a rare sight.  There were like a bazillion steps on the trail?! Stairs are for houses not mountains!  When we finished the hike half of us (including me) went to Ruby Tuesdays aka The Arctic.  When we got back to the hotel, I jumped in the shower then walked to the Quality for a Movie (Zorro) So it was a pretty great day :D

P.s I work in the office tomorrow so we will see how that goes.....
