I am taking a Criminal Justice class this semester. I thought it would fun and cool. My classmates are really serious about this crime stuff. They know all the jargon, and terms, and laws…I don’t. I just found out that a misdemeanor, is not a nickname (Mister Meaner). Yeah…. We were shown a video of a real murder case, complete with a man who had been shot, a murderer, suspects, detectives, police men, a dog with a keen sense of smell, and a sweet old lady who dissected the man that was murdered. This is legit stuff right here. It was like a real life CSI episode, in my hometown. Awesome… I definitely sleep better knowing what is really going down in my town. There are a total of six people in this class, including myself. So it can get little awkward. For example: A woman in the class made a comment about her mother in law, and the man seated behind me said, out of nowhere, “ My mother in-law has passed away. So she is gone now.” I turn around in disbelief…*Silence*
I am always mixing up my class schedule. Lets say a class starts at 2:30, I’ll get there at 1:50 thinking class begins at 2:00. The best part is that when the realization hits me, I’m in the school walking to said class. So I unknowingly showed up to this criminal justice class 30 minutes early. But unlike my other mistakes I didn’t realize this until I was in my seat, with my pen in my hand. Now I know your thinking “why didn’t I see the unfamiliar faces?”, well there is another “criminal justice” like class right before mine, and my five classmates are in that class as well. So I saw familiar faces and made myself at home. I was sitting next to this girl I had never seen before thinking “Why is she here and why does she have the wrong book?” She was most likely thinking the same thing. I noticed that the man teaching the class was not my professor and at that moment it hit me. I was in the class before mine. Class ended and everyone was walking out of the room. I looked around and saw five of my classmates sitting behind me. Great. I had to sit there for 15 minutes in awkward silence knowing these five people knew that I just intruded the class before ours. Lesson is ‘always double check your class schedule.’
